COTEdc Meeting: Presentation & Discussion on the Green Roof Rebate Program

Wednesday
8 February 2012
6:15PM - 8:00PM

District Architecture Center
421 7th Street NW
Washington, DC 20004

Lori Johnson and Michael Lucy of the Anacostia Watershed Society (AWS) will give a general overview of the Green Roof Rebate Program that the society is administering for the District Department of the Environment (DDOE). As well as providing the program forms, the presentation will include a general discussion of green roof technology and a question and answer session about the program.

The Anacostia Watershed Society is currently accepting applications for the District's new Green Roof Rebate Program which provides base funding of $5 for every square foot of planted area.  Rebates are available for new green roofs on existing buildings of any size and new construction projects that add a green roof to go above and beyond their requirements for a stormwater management permit.

More information about the program can be found here: http://www.anacostiaws.org/programs/stewardship/green-roofs

Presenters:
Lori Johnson, Advocacy Associate with Anacostia Watershed Society

Lori started as a Chesapeake Conservation Corps Volunteer with the Stewardship Team at AWS in late 2010.  She is now an Advocacy Associate working to support the initiative to restore the Anacostia River and its tributaries by engaging members of the community, legislators, and fellow scientists.  For 2011-12, she will be working to promote and administer the District Department of the Environment’s (DDOE) Green Roof Rebate Program.  Surrounded by nature as a child, Lori developed a passion to preserve and protect the natural world shaping her decision to become a biologist.  She enjoys using her skills and knowledge to bridge the gap between science and policy as an activist for the environment.
